Chinese Beef & Tomatoes Recipe
Ingredients:
4 pcs of tomatoes (medium)
2 lbs of steak (flank)
3 Tbsps of soy sauce
1/2 tsp of ginger; ground
2 Tbsps of sherry (dry)
1 cl of minced garlic
1/8 tsp of black pepper; ground
2 Tbsps of oil
3/4 c of boiling-hot water
1 pc of sliced green bell pepper (medium)
1 pc of sliced onion (medium)
2 Tbsps of cornstarch
1 pcs of beef bouillon (cube)
2 Tbsps of ice water
Instructions:
Slice the beef thinly and diagonally. Combine pepper, garlic, sherry and soy. Pour mixture over beef; tossing in order to completely coat the beef.
Refrigerate for 8-10 hours with cover into a large-sized wok or skillet. Saute onion and green bell pepper for a couple of minutes. With the boiling-hot water, dissolve the cubed bouillon.
Add the beef in and allow to marinate. Let it boil then lower heat. Allow to simmer with cover for eight hours. Mix ice water and cornstarch. Mix into skillet then cook ’til mixture is thick in consistency.
Cut the tomatoes to wedges and add into skillet. Gently stir mixture then cover. Let it simmer ’til cooked through. Best served hot with rice and scallions to garnish. Good for 6-8 persons.
