Pasta With Chunky Tomato Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
1-1/2 c of onions; diced
1/4 c of water (or olive oil)
3/4 c of celery (fresh); chopped
1/2 c of bell peppers (green); chopped
2 c of mushrooms (fresh); sliced
2 cloves of garlic; chopped finely
4 c of tomatoes (fresh); chopped
3 c of tomato sauce
1 tsp of oregano (dried)
2 c of tomato puree
1-1/2 tsps of basil (dried)
1 pc of bay leaf
Salt & Pepper (to taste)
1 lb of spaghetti (or any pasta)
Instructions:
Heat water on a saucepan above moderate heat. Add onions then cook them for 5-6 mins; add garlic, mushrooms, celery, and bell peppers. Cook them for another 5 mins.
Add all of tomatoes (puree, sauce, & fruit); stir thoroughly till blended well. Add herbs then season salt & pepper; simmer for half an hour, uncovered. Cook pasta as stated in the package instructions.
Discard bay leaf (from the sauce). Place the pasta on a serving platter and some of your cooked sauce. Serve while hot.
