Pasta With Turkey Sausage & Spicy Tomato Recipe
Ingredients:
2 c of uncooked pasta (rotini, spirals, or twists)
1 c of sausage (turkey, Italian-style); casings removed
1/2 tsp of powdered chili
1 pc of onion (large); chopped up
1 pc of bell pepper (green, medium); chopped
3-1/2 c of tomatoes (canned, with liquid); chopped up
2 cloves of garlic; chopped finely
1 c of tomato sauce (canned)
1/2 c of mushrooms (canned); drained
1-1/2 tsps of basil (dried)
1 tsp of thyme (dried)
1/2 c of shredded cheese (Mozzarella, part-skim)
Instructions:
Cook the pasta as stated in the package instructions; drain. Heat a (large) skillet, add sausage, bell pepper, garlic, and onion; cook above moderate heat till sausage has browned.
Drain then add tomatoes, mushrooms, tomato sauce, basil, powdered chili, and thyme. Let it simmer for 10 mins, uncovered. Pour over the cooked pasta; spread grated Mozzarella on top.
